The Board of Directors of the Texas District of The Lutheran ChurchΒ - Missouri Synod is accepting nominations for a district staff position of Mission and Ministry Facilitator.

MINISTRY DESCRIPTION

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the district MISSION AND MINISTRY FACILITATOR (MMF) is to assist congregations in reaching the lost, discipling the saved and caring for people. The MMF will adhere to the confessional standards of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and be certified by, and be a member of, the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Through his leadership, outreach, communication, creativity, love, and service the MMF will focus on strategically moving forward the Texas District's goal of creating a mission movement in Texas through the planting of new churches. The MMF of Area D is a deployed position in the Houston area, requiring travel.

SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND PRIMARY FOCUS

  1. Ministry in Personal Life and Conduct
    1. Faithful in worship, personal study of the Word of God, and prayer.
    2. Demonstrates a healthy personal and family life for God's glory and as a witness to others.
    3. Displays good stewardship of time, talents and treasures as a servant of the Texas District and as a follower of Christ in the world.
  2. Strategic Thinker and Worker
    1. Team Ministry – As a proven entrepreneurial leader, the MMF will demonstrate dedication to the goals of the Texas District, the Texas District President, and the District Mission Team to strategically facilitate Kingdom growth through church planting efforts.
    2. New Church Starts – A primary focus of the MMF will be to focus time and energy to facilitate starts of new ministries/churches in Area D of the Texas District, making sure that the right person, place, and plan create a healthy and multiplying ministry.
  3. Networking and Collaboration
    1. Networking – Building relationships with congregations, pastors and ministry leaders, the MMF will work to connect the right person, program or training to ministry needs. He will seek to match the needs of a congregation/ministry with the best available resources.
    2. Collaboration – Creating healthy partnerships with mission organizations, groups, and congregations, the MMF will serve as a "broker of assets" by identifying a variety of ministry partners and resources and connecting these to congregations and ministries.
  4. Communication
    1. With the District – As a member of the Mission Team and the Texas District staff, the MMF will communicate with the Texas District Mission Team, Area Pastors and churches, Vice-presidents, the Board of Mission Administration, and the District Board of Directors the successes, failures, and insights from mission and ministry efforts.
    2. With the Synod – The MMF will communicating with Synod agencies and personnel the progress, challenges, and new initiatives of mission and ministry efforts.
  5. New Church Research and Development, Area D
    1. Locations – The MMF will research "hot-spots" with high need and potential for new mission starts, communicating the details and possibilities to area ministries and mission partners.
    2. Needs – The MMF will help bring resources together to enable the new starts.
  6. Area D Relationships
    1. Churches – The MMF relates with congregations when experiencing a pastoral vacancy, assisting them in the calling a pastor process.
    2. District Team – The MMF will participate in District staff retreats and fellowship opportunities, Mission Team growth opportunities and planning meetings, and other gatherings of the District that foster partnerships in Christ's mission.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Mission and Ministry Facilitator is accountable to the President of the Texas District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
